Workshop “Store” – Part 2

Continuation of the presentation of the store workshop. After having approached the first stages of design, the students devoted themselves to the rendering. Here is the time to discover the realizations made by the students!

A COMPLETE PROJECT

Six months of work were necessary for the 2nd year students of 3D Animation and Special Effects to realize their store. The work required many weeks of preparation, in particular to write the pre-production file, which was essential to the smooth running of the project. Once all the bases were set to elaborate the animation, the students started to work on the Maya software. Several weeks of work were devoted to this animation, in addition to the courses taken by the students.

They had to validate several steps throughout the production:

The setting up of the Layout and an editing,
Animation of the character,
Modeling/Shading of the set (LookDev),
Lighting,
Rendering/Compo.

As a reminder, the render had to be a 10 second animation (20 seconds in total with the introduction and the credits) in which an animated character interacted with the facade of a store. To succeed in their animation, they had to be coherent in the drawing between the character, the scenery, the period, the materials… The students also had to think about finding an animation that offered time to read the image, the scenery and the acting. A judicious compromise between the action and the duration of it, this work allowing above all to evaluate the skills of the students and their capacities to lead a complete project.

THE JURY

The students all went individually in front of the teachers and the pedagogical referents to project their animation. They presented their work as well as two renderings (one daytime and one nighttime) in still images. The teachers noted the coherence, the quality and more globally the work provided.

This multidisciplinary exercise closed the second year of training of the students by gathering all the skills acquired since the beginning of their studies. A great preparation for their third year to come.
