ESMA is delighted to announce that its graduation short film DAWN has been selected to take part in the prestigious 23rd VES Awards. This choice marks international recognition for this exceptional project, the fruit of the talent and know-how of our 3D Animation and Special Effects students.
The VES Awards: a worldwide celebration of the masters of visual effects
Every year, the Visual Effects Society organises the prestigious VES Awards, a not-to-be-missed event that honours the creators of the most spectacular visual effects. The awards recognise work from a wide range of fields, including film, series, advertising and video games.
For DAWN, being shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project’ category is a real accolade. The nomination puts the short film in competition with projects from schools all over the world, and underlines the excellence and expertise of the training provided at ESMA.
DAWN: A realistic and captivating odyssey
DAWN plunges viewers into the moving story of a young sea turtle that has just hatched. To reach the ocean, it must overcome a series of trials and escape from fearsome predators. This universal tale, both touching and thrilling, is supported by an immersive narrative and visuals of exceptional quality.
Already acclaimed by a number of prestigious festivals, DAWN stands out for the finesse of its visual effects. Every detail, from textures to lighting to animation, is crafted with impressive precision, transporting viewers into a world of striking realism. This technical and artistic excellence has earned DAWN a place among the nominees for the VES Awards.

A huge congratulations to the talented DAWN team for this exceptional achievement, which marks the start of a promising adventure. Their work, combining remarkable technical mastery and unparalleled artistic creativity, brilliantly reflects the excellence of ESMA and inspires generations of students to come.
