ESMA ranked 8th best animation school in the world by Animation Career Review 2022.
ESMA’s films have been selected for over 200 international festivals each year. Our students’ work has been rewarded with many prizes, including the “Best Student Project” award at SIGGRAPH for the film Je suis un Caillou, the “Film of the Year – 3D animation” award by The Rookies for the film Œil pour Œil, the “Best Art Director Award” for the film La Source des Montagnes at the Animayo! festival, and many others!

Swing to the Moon awarded at Tokyo Anime Award Festival…
The Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2023 (Japan) awarded the “Toshima City Award” to the student film Swing to the Moon on March 13th. Congratulations to the directors !
… and at the Underexposed Film Festival YC
The Underexposed Film Festival YC (USA) also awarded the short film Swing to the Moon, which competed in the Student Film category. A big congratulations to the students!
4 films awarded in Athens
In Greece, the Athens International Monthly Art Film Festival awarded several ESMA films last February, namely:
– the short films Trajectory, Flame, and A Cookie’s Adventure, which each received a “Special Mention”,
– and the film Mr Flower, which received an award on the same occasion.
GENIE Award for Best Student Film (PIDS)
The short Swing to the Moon received the GENIE Award for Best Student Film (PIDS).
Prix Papergames – Starheaven Best Visual Presentation in Short Animation
Swing to the Moon received the Papergames – Starheaven Best Visual Presentation in Short Animation Award in the Competition (Category A) category at the Aniwow Festival (China).
Honorable Mention
Le Roi Tulipe received the “Honorable Mention” at the Shockfest Film Festival (USA).
Youth Award
The Tournus Animation Film Festival Youth Prize was awarded to Swing to the Moon !
Prix Storytelling Best Film
Bourdonnement received the “Storytelling Best Film” award at the Thessaloniki Animation Festival (Greece).
Prix Best Animated Film for Kids
Mésozoïque Alternatif received the “Best Animated Film for Kids” award at the Thessaloniki Animation Festival (Greece).
Prix Best Animation
The Best Animation Award at the Chicago International REEL Shorts! (USA) was awarded to Molly et son chat.
Special Mention
The film Raconte-moi une histoire received a special mention by the youth jury at the Chouette Festival – France
Audience Award
The film Merry Big Mess won the Audience Award at the Animation Volda Festival – Norway
