The international competition – which celebrates emerging talent in the animation and digital special effects sector – was held last month. Among the winning projects were two ESMA graduation films that have already attracted a lot of attention!

Julien Fournet is a director at the TAT Prod studio in Toulouse, and is responsible for the feature film Pil, due for release in 2021. Every summer, the Voyage à Nantes organizes an itinerary, clearly identifiable by its green line that crosses the city, allowing visitors to discover all the works of art on display throughout the summer. Once again this year, ESMA is a partner of Le Voyage à Nantes, inviting all curious visitors to a film screening!

We recently reported the selection of several ESMA films for the SIGGRAPH 2023… Today, we are delighted to announce that the film Swing to the Moon, directed by ESMA students, has won the Best Student Project award at the SIGGRAPH !

The Lyon-based students of Esma’s 4th and 5th year CG Animation & FX Master Degree were able to exchange with Mia Lalanne, currently VFX Production Consultant at VFX Prod Training in Glasgow. This seasoned professional came to present to the students the more “hidden” part of a studio: the production, and then evoked more generally the good ways to communicate.

The final year Montpellier students of the CG Animation & FX Master Degree received three members of the Electric Theater Collective (ETC) with whom they were able to exchange information about the studio’s projects and behind-the-scenes of a scene creation.

We have received some exciting news: SIGGRAPH has just released the list of films selected for its 2023 edition, and ESMA is proud to have three student films among them! This is a record never before achieved in the history of our animation film school.
