Every year, the Association Française du Cinéma d’Animation (AFCA) organises a not-to-be-missed event for fans of animated films: the Fête du Cinéma d’Animation. The École Supérieure des Métiers Artistiques (ESMA) is delighted to join in this national celebration. From 16 to 23 October, this event will enable the public to rediscover family animated films, screened in cinemas on our various campuses.

The schools in Bordeaux, Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes, Rennes and Toulouse are offering introductory courses so that secondary school pupils and students changing careers can find out more about the courses on offer at ESMA.

Each year, The Rookies competition celebrates the excellence and innovation of young talent in the fields of digital arts, animation, visual effects and design. The prestigious, internationally recognised competition highlights the best students and young professionals who aspire to revolutionise the creative industry. I  2024, ESMA once again stands out for its performance.      

Nantes students in their second year of Animation Film recently completed a unique and exciting project, combining scientific observation and creative imagination. The project involved inventing, modelling and animating imaginary insects after studying real specimens on loan from the Nantes Natural History Museum. Their work is now on display in the ‘La bestiole’ showcases, an innovative curiosity cabinet that forms part of the cultural itinerary of the famous Voyage à Nantes.

Every summer, Nantes becomes the setting for a major cultural event : Le Voyage à Nantes. Internationally renowne”d, this event transforms the city into an artistic and cultural journey, inviting visitors to discover ephemeral installations, exhibitions and performances throughout the city. In 2024, as in previous years, ESMA Nantes is proud to be part of this exceptional journey.

The Annecy Animation Festival, often compared to the Cannes Film Festival, is a major event for fans of animation. This year, ESMA had the honour of seeing the film Claw (class 2023) selected for the official competition. This recognition represents an invaluable opportunity for the students, giving them international visibility and recognition.

Everyone is waiting for them with growing enthusiasm: the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games are fast approaching and France is ready to host this global event. To keep us waiting, France Télévisions will soon be broadcasting jingles dedicated to each discipline, specially created for the occasion by student members of the Réseau des Ecoles de Cinéma d’Animation (RECA), including ESMA!
