Bringing magic and a little happiness doesn’t take much. Actually, a sheet, a projector and a playlist of a few films. This is how the association La Petite Luciole travelled all over Sri Lanka to bring cinema to children who had never known it. Nothing more commonplace in our societies but a real discovery for these children. Erwan Le Roux, who initiated the project, tells us about this extraordinary adventure.

On January 29th, the verdict of the VES AWARDS ceremony was announced, for which the film Eye for Eye was selected. Four of the directors, as well as Yann Pannetier – teacher and section head – travelled to Los Angeles to participate in the festival and meet with numerous studios.

In the list of powers that humans dream of possessing, the power to talk to animals is often mentioned. This fantasy has often been subject to various adaptations. Among them, there is that of “The Extravagant Doctor Dolittle”, a book written by Hugh Lofting. For this new version of the story, the famous actor Robert Downey Jr. slips into the character’s skin and thus gives life to this whimsical hero who has the particularity of being able to communicate with animals.

After a very successful first edition in 2018, La Plateforme and NEF Animation organised the second edition of ExtrAnimation, the meeting point for the wide variety of animated films in the Loire region, on 12-13-14 December at “Le Cinématographe – Nantes” and “Le Lieu Unique”.

ESMA’s CG Animation Cinema and FX Master Degree is recognized as an RNCP Level 7 – “CG Director Designer and Special Effects”!

As part of its partnership with the 3 Continents Festival, two groups of 4th year students of CG Animation Cinema and FX from ESMA Nantes gave a lecture to primary school students to make them aware of the world of CG animation.

The film Œil pour Œil has been selected in the category “Outstanding Visual Effects in a Student Project” at the VES Awards! It is the only French student project to have been chosen from this list and the first ESMA film to participate.
