Since 1990, the Cartoon Forum has been the essential meeting place for European animation series professionals, designed to stimulate the production and distribution of European animated content for television and new platforms. ESMA has presented three projects for the 2021 edition. Our students, supported by their teachers, came to pitch their film project in front of professionals.

In theaters since August, the animated feature film Pil from the studio TAT Prod is enjoying great success after those recorded by The Jungle Aces (2017), which had recorded 2.75 million admissions worldwide and $10.2 million in revenue and Terra Willy, Planet Unknown (2019). Many ESMA alumni worked on Pil alongside Julien Fournet, the director. Three of them spoke to us about their experience.

Anaïs Blancquart, a fourth year student in CG Animation & FX Master Degree at ESMA in Toulouse, tells us about her internship at TAT Productions and in particular her participation in the Pil project, the studio’s third feature film.

A look back at the 2021 jury for the CG Animation and FX Master Degree. A special year because the Lyon campus presented its first class. A total of 26 films were presented, made by 192 students.

For a few months now, they have been pursuing their solo adventures since graduation. Philippe Nurdin is a freelance lighting artist for the Framestore studio and Yann Orhon has worked for several studios and has decided to open his own!

Only a few months after graduation, our young graduates have made great strides professionally. Amélie Ben Naceur, TD character in rig, and Steven Lecompte, CG animator, tell us about their entry into the world of work since graduating from CG Animation and Special Effects.

Continuation of the presentation of the store workshop. After having approached the first stages of design, the students devoted themselves to the rendering. Here is the time to discover the realizations made by the students!

In two parts, we offer you an original focus on the realization of a workshop conducted by the 2nd year students of the CG Animation and FX Master Degree in Nantes. The exercise consists in imagining a character interacting with the facade of a store and creating a 10-second animation. This cross-disciplinary project is built throughout the year and brings together different subjects taught at the school.
