ESMA joins forces with the Creatvty festival: support for audiovisual innovation
News . 13 Nov. 2024
From 9 to 12 October 2024, Sète was the setting for the first edition of Creatvty, a festival dedicated to new forms of audiovisual creation. ESMA was a proud partner of this event, offering a unique opportunity to showcase innovative productions from the Occitanie region, while facilitating exchanges between professionals and young audiovisual talent.
A new meeting place for audiovisual innovation
Creatvty, initiated by Stéphane Caput, producer and chairman of the association In the Mood for Films, is a unique festival celebrating the diversity of audiovisual creations and giving visibility to works that are often overlooked. Sète, renowned for its major role in the film industry, has seen its cinematic dynamism grow in recent years. In collaboration with its partners, the town has launched Creatvty, an event that is now a must for professionals and audiences in the Occitanie region. The festival aims to showcase films at every stage of their creation, from writing to post-production.
Creatvty’s ambition is clear: to become a reference point in the region, and even nationally, for the promotion and support of audiovisual creation. By showcasing works that are often less visible in traditional circuits, the festival aims to provide a platform for creators and their unique artistic proposals.
ESMA’s commitment to Creatvty
For ESMA, partnering with Creatvty is a fundamental step. As a leading school in 3D animation, ESMA considers it essential to support initiatives that highlight audiovisual creation, particularly in a region as dynamic as Occitanie. This partnership represents an opportunity for ESMA alumni to see their work recognised by a passionate public and professionals in the sector.
In addition, ESMA sees this commitment as a way of promoting young local talent, supporting them through events that open up new professional opportunities and enable them to develop their network.
The short film competition: the excellence of ESMA productions
Three categories were showcased at the festival: television unit films, animated shorts and web series.
The animated shorts competition showcased some exceptional works by students from various schools in the region, including ESMA, ARTFX and ENSAV. Nine short films produced by ESMA students were selected, illustrating the richness, creativity and excellence of the school’s productions:
- All Aboard !
- Vidalia
- L’Ogre du Danube
- Close
- Swing to the Moon
- Trash
- Wilson
- Reven
- Les Lucioles
These short films showcase the technical and artistic excellence of the students, while highlighting their ability to tell innovative and fascinating stories.
Swing to the Moon was awarded the prize for best animated short! Thanks to its poetry and technical virtuosity, it won over both the jury and the audience.
ESMA would like to congratulate all the teams involved in the shortlisted films for their exceptional creativity and remarkable commitment.
A festival for the future of audiovisual innovation
In its first year, Creatvty has already demonstrated its immense potential as a future pillar of audiovisual festivals. With its desire to highlight works that are often marginalised on the big stages, it responds to a crucial need for diversity in today’s audiovisual landscape. ESMA is honoured to support this initiative and wishes the festival a bright future, convinced that it will become a key event for audiovisual creation.
Our congratulations go to all the participants, and we look forward to seeing Creatvty continue to promote innovation and bold creativity in the years to come.
