I’M A pebble AT THE “OSCARS” OF ANIMATION
After having caused a sensation at the American HollyShorts Film Festival during which the film I am a Pebble won the “Best Animation Short” award (i.e. it was a festival labeled Oscars Qualifying), it is a new prestigious selection that honors the work of the six directors – Mélanie Berteraut Platon, Yasmine Bresson, Léo Coulombier, Nicolas Grondin, Maxime Le Chapelain & louise Massé – with the nomination in the “Best Student Film” category at the Annie Awards.
I am a Pebble is among the 22 French selections at this festival, alongside heavyweights of animation such as the series produced by the studio Fortiche Production Arcane or the film Le sommet des dieux bringing the eponymous manga to the big screen. These numerous selections highlight, once again, the French skills in animation and demonstrate their recognition at the international level. It should be noted that only 2 French student films were selected, including I am a Pebble!
The Annie Awards ceremony will take place on February 26 in Los Angeles. We support our students for this new selection and hope the best for them!
WHAT ARE THE ANNIE AWARDS
The Annie Awards are the equivalent of the Oscars but only for animation, with the objective of rewarding the best productions, cinema and television. This year, the American festival will celebrate its 49th edition. Moreover, since the 40th edition, the Annie Awards have decided to also celebrate the work of students by opening a new category: the “Best Student Film” award. In all, there are 31 categories that allow to value productions as well as those who make them.
