Harmony is a poetic and moving short film by students in their final year of CG Animation and Special Effects at ESMA. Combining fantastic musical visions, a vibrant colour palette and technical feats, this film offers viewers an unparalleled sensory immersion.

a story that echoes

Lully, a musical chimera, gradually realises that his music has the power to colour the world. Intrigued and full of enthusiasm, he sets off to discover his environment, populated by creatures like himself: chimeras that represent singular sounds. Together, they embark on a musical journey in which Lully tries to find his place. This journey of initiation, marked by moments of doubt and resilience, will lead them to a visual and sonic harmony that reflects their union and their shared understanding.

Harmony is based on a key idea: musical chimeras, hybrid creatures that fuse the organic and the sonic. These characters personify unique sounds which, when brought together, create a spellbinding visual and musical symphony. This narrative choice stems from the passion of the student behind the project, for whom film music is essential to the emotional power of a film.

Forging an original world

One of the main challenges for the team was to design a completely new world. Harmony does not draw on any pre-existing references: every aspect, from the aesthetics to the characters, was created from scratch. This colossal task began with an intensive pre-production phase, during which every detail was carefully worked out.

A meaningful collaboration

To bring this project to fruition, the team attached paramount importance to communication and listening to each other. A working environment based on benevolence and cooperation was cultivated, allowing each member to share his or her own sensibility, which enriched the film with diverse and complementary perspectives.

This choice to focus on listening and unity perfectly reflects the film’s message: it is by collaborating and communicating that wonders can be achieved. Harmony thus becomes both a reflection on humanity and a work of art.

The world of Harmony owes much of its richness to its soundtrack, which is essential to the development of the story. Composer David ESCUDERO and musician Thierry BLETON have masterfully captured the soul of this world of sound. Their compositions, both intense and poignant, plunge the audience into a powerful emotional experience, amplifying the impact of the film. Their work blends sublimely with the animation, delivering an exceptional immersive experience.
