News . 11 Sep. 2023
Over the course of three intense days, the students of the CG Animation & FX Master Degree of 2023 presented their films to a panel of international professionals at the graduation show. This year there were 28 films made by 230 students across our 4 campuses.
A PAGE TURNS, A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS…
And here we are. Four years have gone by for our CG Animation & FX Master Degree students, and now they’re facing the long-awaited moment of presenting their graduation films to professionals and their families.
A total of 230 students from our four campuses (Lyon, Montpellier, Nantes and Toulouse) presented their films. And what films they were! A total of 28 short films were screened, with something for everyone: drama, action, comedy, storytelling, music, magic…
The big moment took place on Thursday September 7 at the Gaumont Multiplexe Montpellier, followed by an emotional evening during which the awards were handed out (see results below).
But the 3D jury isn’t just about having a good time, it’s also an opportunity for our students to take part in the jobfair the following day. In all, no fewer than 1,300 interviews took place on Friday. In a face-to-face meeting, students were able to present their demoreel (portfolio in video format) and talk to the studio representative in the hope of landing a job. We’re confident that it won’t be long before our young graduates are working for some of the world’s leading studios.
Once again, we would like to congratulate all our students for their commitment and the quality of their work.
THE JURY
In all, some 50 people, representing 25 studios, flocked to Montpellier to attend the graduation show for the class of 2023. They were joined by prestigious guests Philippe Peythieu and Véronique Augereau, known for being – among other things – the French voices of The Simpsons, as well as Elise Carret and François Briantais, former students who joined the Walt Disney studio in Vancouver.
This year, David Alaux took on the role of Jury Chairman. He is one of the co-founders of the Toulouse-based studio TAT Productions, founded 23 years ago. Since then, TAT has made a name for itself with its productions: Les As de la jungle (series and feature films), Pil, Pattie et la colère de Poséidon… Prolific creations that are a worldwide hit, and to which many of our alumni have contributed. And to carry out his mission he was not alone, since he could count on the support of prestigious studios who also made the trip with the aim of discovering – and recruiting – this new class.
