ESMA at the Annecy 2024 Animation Festival

News . 19 Jun. 2024

The Annecy Animation Festival, often compared to the Cannes Film Festival, is a major event for fans of animation. This year, ESMA had the honour of seeing the film Claw (class 2023) selected for the official competition. This recognition represents an invaluable opportunity for the students, giving them international visibility and recognition.

PRESENTATION OF THE 2024 FILM TEASERS

The Annecy Festival marks a high point for Esma 3D: the unveiling of the teasers for the 2024 films! This preview took place on the stand of Progiss 3DVF, a leading distributor of software and hardware solutions for 3D and visual effects professionals.

Once again this year, the 2024 teasers showcase the diversity of talent and styles present at ESMA, and demonstrate the school’s commitment to encouraging innovation and excellence in the field of animation.

You too can discover the films of the class of 2024! From June to August, we publish a new teaser every 2 days on our Youtube channel Esma Movies !

Claw: A promising achievement

The short film Claw (2023), directed by Ayoub Chaibi, Lucas Ferrer, Chloé Ferrus, Thomas Petroni, Dylan Sayagh, Alizée Valenzuela and Florian Wagner is, like all our students’ graduation shorts, the result of many months of hard work. The selection of this film in the official competition of the Annecy 2024 festival highlights the talent and creativity of the students. This visibility has enabled the film team to present their work to an audience made up of industry professionals, critics and animation enthusiasts. For our young talents, it’s a unique opportunity to get noticed and make valuable contacts for their future careers.

A must-attend event: the Alumni Aperitif!

As every year, ESMA organised the Alumni Apéro, a much sought-after event for our alumni. The event once again attracted a large number of alumni, creating a convivial atmosphere conducive to exchanges. This special moment helped to strengthen the links between the different generations, underlining the solidarity and dynamism of our community.

Partnership and co-organisation of the Annual Picnic

ESMA has been collaborating and co-organising the famous Annecy Festival Picnic for many years. In partnership with prestigious studios such as Locksmith, Blue Zoo, Aardman, Epic Games and DNEG, this event is directed by the incomparable Shelley Page, a leading figure in 3D animation. This VIP-only Picnic is an ideal opportunity to encourage fruitful exchanges between students and industry professionals.

For our students, taking part in the organisation of this Picnic is an exceptional opportunity. They have the chance to contribute to a major event and meet some of the biggest names in 3D animation and special effects. These encounters offer them precious moments of exchange and sharing, where they can receive sound advice, while establishing links that could be decisive for their professional future.

AN ENRICHING AND UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

The Annecy Festival is much more than just a showcase for our students’ work. It’s an immersive experience where they can immerse themselves in the latest industry trends, attend exclusive screenings, participate in workshops and conferences led by world-renowned experts. For many, it’s a source of inspiration and motivation, a vibrant reminder of the passion that led them to choose a career in animation.
