Two ESMA student short films shortlisted for the prestigious Cinequest Film Festival 2025!

The student films Trash and Dawn, created by ESMA talent, have been included in the prestigious selection of the American festival Cinequest. An exceptional distinction that puts them on the road to the 2026 Oscars!
Cinequest Film Festival: a gateway to the Oscars
The Cinequest Film Festival, one of the leading independent film festivals in the United States, is held every year in San Jose, California. Offering a showcase for the most daring and innovative works, it features a competition of films, the overall winner of which is eligible for the 2026 Oscars in the Best Animated Short Film category.
Being selected for Cinequest is a real accolade. It’s an exceptional opportunity to present your work to an international audience and to capture the attention of influential professionals in the field. This year, Trash and Dawn, two short films created by ESMA students, have been included in the festival’s official selection.

Recognition for student creativity and commitment
Produced as part of ESMA’s 3D Animation and Special Effects programme, these two short films illustrate the ingenuity and artistic rigour of their young creators. This double selection at the Cinequest Film Festival highlights the excellence of ESMA’s student productions and their ability to establish themselves among the emerging talents of the animation industry.
