[Spotted] Our alumni in the credits of Migration
News . 12 Dec. 2023
Illumination MacGuff unveils its second feature film of the year: Migration. A family film that opens up new perspectives for the Parisian studio, and is sure to please a wide audience this Christmas. Several of our former students are credited in the film’s credits.
Following the resounding success of Super Marios Bros earlier this year, Illumination MacGuff is back in the spotlight with a brand-new project: Migration. This time around, the Paris-based studio is taking a step away from its previous productions (Comme des bêtes, Moi, Moche et Méchant, Tous en scène…). The film is directed by a Frenchman, Benjamin Renner – creator of Ernest et Célestine and Le Grand Méchant Renard et autres contes.
Migration follows the thrilling adventures of a family of mallard ducks as they leave their home comforts to fly to the other side of the globe. On the program: encounters, twists and turns, and always a little suspense. A film that will appeal to young and old alike. And to make up this friendly, adventurous family, a number of former students from the CG Animation & Master Degree were on hand. Check them out!

Illumination MacGuff studio
The Illumination MacGuff studio has rapidly built an indisputable reputation on the quality of its productions: Despicable Me (1 to 3), The Minions (1 & 2), The Secret life of Pets (1 & 2), Sing (1 & 2), Le Grinch and The Lorax. Such is its renown that Nintendo asked the studio to produce the Super Mario bros movie. This collaboration opened up new horizons for Illumination MacGuff.
The birth of this studio is the result of a meeting between Illumination Entertainment and the Mac Guff Ligne studio. A veritable “professional love at first sight” took place, the results of which are now known the world over.
migration
The Mallard family is in the throes of a domestic dilemma. While Mack is totally content to wade with his family, peacefully and permanently, in their little New England pond, his wife Pam would be more the type to shake up this routine a little to show the rest of the world to her children – Dax, who is already no longer a duckling, and his little sister Gwen. When they welcome a family of migratory ducks for a stopover, it’s the perfect opportunity for Pam to persuade Mack to follow in their footsteps and embark on a family journey: destination Jamaica, via New York. As they set off for the sunny winter months, the Mallards’ well-laid plans quickly fall apart. But the chaotic and unexpected turn of events will change them forever, and teach them much more than they ever imagined.
