[Spotted] Our alumni in the credits of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
News . 09 Jun. 2023
Spider-Man, our favorite hero, is back! And, once again, a number of ESMA alumni feature in this new opus.
Its name: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In this second episode of the trilogy initiated in 2018 with Spider-Man: The New Generation, we follow the adventures of Miles Morales in the multiverse, where a multitude of Spider-heroes coexist, known as the Spider Society. When a new threat arises, Miles Morales must go it alone, against all odds (and especially against the Spider-Society and its leader Miguel O’Hara), pulling out all the stops to ensure the triumph of his conception of the superhero. It’s an exciting program, and one that will probably prove particularly trying for the young hero!
Astonishingly, even before its release, this new feat from Sony Pictures Imageworks studios, directed by Joaquim dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, has already made history as the longest animated film ever made. With its 2h16 of animation, it unfurls a rich and inspiring graphic universe, where the viewer gets a new visual slap in the face with each new world Miles Morales enters, all dimensions having benefited from their own artistic direction.
At ESMA, this film has a special flavor, not least due to the presence of four of our former students in the credits – proud representatives of the school!
The final part of the trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release in 2024. And it’s a safe bet that several ESMA alumni will be credited once again! Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be released in France on May 31… One thing’s for sure: we’ll be there!
