3D Ciné-concert : 8 ESMA films set to music !

3D Ciné-concert : ESMA Lyon, MAAAV and the Lyon Conservatoire join forces for a unique event !
An exclusive COLLABORATION
It is a unique event, highlighting talents of the Lyon region and seeing them work together to the delight of all music and 7th art enthusiasts. A Ciné-Concert, to be held on 27 March in this vestige of the Vaise district’s industrial past, during which 8 ESMA films will be screened, accompagnied live bu musicians from the Lyon Conservatoire, who will play sound compositions devised by the MAAAV Master’s students. The 8 films selected for this project are as follows :
- Graine de paresse,
- Plum,
- Things in jar,
- Miyuki,
- Le roi Tulipe,
- Liyoki,
- Swing to the Moon,
- and Mr Flower.
Many talents at the service of one event !
The MAAAV Master’s degree (Music Applied to the Visual Arts) at the Lumière Lyon 2 University is a course that stands out in the French University landscape. Recognised in the sound industry, this course prepares future composers of music for visual creations. Films, animated films, video games and other forms of multimedia creations are just some of the mediums used by these sound artist, who regularly work with ESMA students on their graduation films.
For this ciné-concert, their compositions will be set to music by students from Lyon Conservatoire, under the direction of conductor Muguette Rimey-Meille. The artists giving this live performance, who are currently training in their chosen speciality, will be playing the following instruments :
- Vibraphones will be played by Betty Berly and Axel Grollier,
- Marimbas by Célian Jeacomine and Manon Bertrand,
- The bass marimba by Cédric Rouyer,
- Xylophone, glockenspiel, Crotales and accessories by Alban Magloire and Jules Charrier,
- Xylophone, glockenspiel, crotales, tubular bells and accessories by Ahwa Hong and Lelio Bianco,
- Timpani by Gabriel Dridi-Roger,
- And drums by Karel Pascinto.
This is particularly complex exercisen in which the balance of sound, the cohrenece between images and sound, and the coexistence of multiple sound elements (music, dialogue, sound effects, etc) requires very special attention, as well as the deployment of artistic, technical and logistical skills.
Audiences at the ciné-concert will be able to discover the results of this collaboration, which took many month of work and the unfailing commitment of the students and teaching staff. The event is entirely free… subject to availability.
